CINCINNATI - OhioPen -- CINCINNATI, Ohio – Learning about responsibility and ownership at an early age provides young children with a sense of pride and competence through being accountable, trying their best, and being dependable. These traits foster improved self-esteem, a strong work ethic, and the value of taking good care of their space and belongings. In the debut title in the playful Justbe City picture book series, Chase and the Messy Room, author Tomeka Williams expertly brings a fun and important story about the joys and frustrations of staying organized.
Williams's delightful rhyming story takes the reader through a variety of scenes with young Chase tidying up his bedroom, cleaning, taking the trash out, and putting things in their places. Once he's through, his room looks amazing and he's proud of his hard work. Now, he understands why a clean room matters. But all that hard work makes him hungry and before he goes outside to play he makes himself a delicious snack in the kitchen…and a big mess to go with it! Chase's dad explains that putting things away and cleaning up as you go gives you more time to do the things you want to do.
