DAYTON, Ohio - OhioPen -- BEAVERCREEK, OH – Author Chandra Donelson hosted a special book reading of The Data Detective at the Carnival at Barnes & Noble Beavercreek, joined by Deputy Sheriff Chrystal Bowers of the Greene County Sheriff's Office.
The event brought together storytelling and real-world application, offering children a unique opportunity to learn how data is used in both everyday life and in public safety. After Donelson's reading, Deputy Bowers joined her for a fireside chat, sharing how law enforcement uses data to solve crimes, monitor community trends, and improve safety outcomes.
Children were actively engaged throughout the event—asking thoughtful questions and drawing connections between the book and the work of public safety professionals. One young attendee even shared his excitement about wanting to become a police officer when he grows up.
