ATLANTA - OhioPen -- Atlanta based film production company Bottom of The Net Filmworks has announced the Amazon Prime release of their award nominated feature film "American Girl". The film stars Jamila C. Gray ("On the Come Up" – Paramount Pictures 2022). "American Girl" is about a 19-year-old girl who is motivated by the social justice movement of 2020. After an argument with her mother and stepfather she abruptly moves from South Georgia to Atlanta where she plans to stay with a friend and work for Senate hopeful Stacy Abrams. After an argument with her friend, "Sydney" finds herself homeless and must survive on the street by any means necessary. Writer/Director Al Robbins says, "We were moved to create a story around a character who was affected by the events of 2020 while trying to navigate a somewhat turbulent situation at home and at the same time trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life."
The film premiered in Los Angeles at the DTLA Film Festival. The "American Girl" east coast premiere was a sold-out screening at the Peachtree Village International Film Festival where the film was an award finalist.
