City of Akron Press Release
From the desk of City of Akron Press Office
Published: 03-25-2021
Akron, Ohio, March 25, 2021— The City of Akron hosted a groundbreaking ceremony today, March 25 for the first new housing development in city limits in decades. The 6.2-acre area will include 51 single-family detached homes.
The City will partner with Triban Investment LLC, an affiliate of Knez Homes, to develop the property. Triban specializes in transforming vacant land into premier communities for local and national home builders. In addition, K. Hovnanian has been selected as the builder of the homes at The Crossings.
"The City's support in the development of new home construction is critical to the revitalization and stabilization of our community," said Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan. "By investing in housing and new infrastructure, we're making a long-term commitment to our city and our residents."

"The Crossings at Auld Farms housing development will have a major impact on the City of Akron and in particular Ward 3," said City Council President and Ward 3 representative, Margo Sommerville. "The availability of new housing with access to public transportation, jobs and other public services will not only help grow the population of our city but create an inclusive and diverse community as well."
"Investment in new home construction, in a core neighborhood of our city, would not have been possible without the 15-year residential tax abatement policy," said Deputy Mayor James Hardy. "Akron still faces significant headwinds when it comes to housing, from both the foreclosure crisis and the pandemic, but developments such as Auld Farms prove we can do hard things with creativity and persistence."
The new homes will range from 1,381 square feet to 1,759 square feet and will include three and four-bedroom options, two and a half baths, attached garages, energy-efficient appliances, furnace and AC units and energy-efficient single-hung windows. Base prices for the homes will range between $200,000 - $230,000.
For more information regarding the homes for sale at The Crossings contact K. Hovnanian at 440-985-731.
