~ The first-ever Street League Skateboarding (SLS) Cleveland Takeover Presented by Monster Energy was a huge success, with a sold-out event at North Coast Yard on August 9th. The event, which celebrated skateboarding and the vibrant culture of Cleveland, was held in collaboration with MGK Day weekend and featured live music, local food trucks, and special appearances.
Among the notable attendees were music icon and Cleveland native Machine Gun Kelly, actor Gianni Paolo, musician MODSUN, and athletes from the Cleveland Browns. Their presence added to the citywide celebration of skateboarding.
Legendary skaters Kareem Campbell and Chad Muska were also in attendance, showing their support for the sport and bringing their energy to the event. Fans were thrilled to see these icons in person and eagerly lined up for photos and a chance to connect with them.
On the competition side, it was the next generation of skateboarders who stole the show. 15-year-old Ginwoo Onodera and Julian Agliardi impressed in the Men's Wildcard Jam, earning top spots and securing their places in the SLS Men's Finals.

In the Women's Final, Australian standout Chloe Covell continued her dominance by winning 50 percent of all Street League contests she has entered. She took home first place in Cleveland and is looking forward to competing in Paris on October 11th. "I'm so excited," she said. "Paris last year I got first, so hopefully I can do it again this year."
The rest of the Women's podium was claimed by Japanese skaters Coco Yoshizawa in second place and Oda Yumeka in third.
In an intense Men's Final, Cordano Russell emerged as the winner, securing his first-ever SLS victory with an impressive performance that included tricks no one else was doing. "This is a new beginning," he said excitedly. "This is what I've been dreaming about for years. For it to finally be in my hands is crazy."
Carlos Ribeiro took second place, while Jhancarlos Gonzalez rounded out the podium in third.
The event was a significant stop on the road to the 2025 SLS Super Crown World Championship, with qualification points on the line and the world's best skaters battling for a spot. The next stop on the SLS season will be at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris, France on October 11th.
