~ Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther has unveiled his proposed 2024 Capital Budget, which aims to address various issues facing the city. The budget, totaling $1.99 billion, includes funding for crime-fighting tools and facilities, affordable housing projects, fire stations, parks and community centers, road resurfacing, and city utilities.
With an additional $618 million in carryover funding from previous budgets, the proposed 2024 Capital Budget is the largest in the city's history. This reflects the continued growth of Central Ohio as it attracts new residents, businesses, and visitors at record levels.
According to Mayor Ginther, this budget showcases the city's commitment to improving community safety, affordable housing options, and transit and utility infrastructure as the region continues to grow in impact and influence. He believes that by investing in necessary infrastructure now, every resident will have the opportunity to thrive and contribute to a bright and prosperous future.

The proposed budget has been submitted to Columbus City Council via ordinance for consideration. The council will hold three public hearings to discuss Mayor Ginther's proposal on July 2nd (virtual), July 8th (Linden Community Center), and July 9th (Columbus Fire Academy).
Funding for the 2024 Capital Budget comes from bond sales backed by the Income Tax Set Aside fund (ITSA) and debt issued by the Department of Public Utilities (or Enterprise Fund). The full budget can be viewed online at www.Columbus.gov/capital.
This budget announcement falls under the category of "Media Releases" and is a significant step towards addressing the city's current and future needs.
