Doug Mock, After 33 years at HCR ManorCare and ProMedica, Takes Leadership Reins
CANTON, Ohio - OhioPen -- Doug Mock, who has worked in a variety of roles over more than three decades of providing nursing and rehabilitation care, will transition into the role of President of Altercare Integrated Health Services on Sept. 20.
Mock is currently Assistant Vice President at ProMedica Health System, which is headquartered in Toledo. At Altercare, he succeeds Greg Colaner, who announced his retirement in February. Colaner will stay on at Altercare in an advisory role.
"I am honored and excited to join the Altercare team," Mock said. "Altercare's legacy of providing outstanding quality patient care has made them one of the premier providers of skilled nursing and rehabilitation throughout Ohio and Michigan. I look forward to contributing to such a well-respected and caring organization."

Jerry Schroer Jr., CEO of The Schroer Group, parent company of Altercare, said Mock's experience and focus will blend well with Altercare's organizational goals of Quality, Customer Service and Employee Satisfaction.
"He knows the long-term care world and the landscape of this challenging industry inside and out," Schroer said. "We knew that it wouldn't be easy to find someone to follow Greg, whose been with us for 34 years. We appreciate Doug's long stint at ProMedica and can't wait to make him part of the Altercare family."
Mock joined HCR ManorCare 33 years ago as a skilled nursing facility administrator, including overseeing Heartland of Jackson in southern Ohio. In 1997, he was promoted to Divisional Director of Operations Support for the then Midwest Division. He also served as Regional Director of Operations for Northwest and Central Ohio; Assistant Vice President for the Central Division of Ohio, Illinois and Kentucky; Regional Director of Operations for Northern Ohio and Southeast Michigan and for the past two years has been an Assistant Vice President overseeing operations in eight states. In 2018, ProMedica acquired HCR ManorCare.

Mock received his Bachelor of Science in Long Term Health Care Administration from Ohio University, graduating Cum Laude, has a certificate in Gerontology from Ohio University and received his Masters of Science in Community Health/Health Services Administration from the University of Oregon.
Altercare worked with the Premier team at LeaderStat, specializing in placing executives in the health care industry, in finding its next President.
"My time with Altercare represents my life's work, and it's an honor to have served this growing community," said outgoing Altercare President, Greg Colaner. "Now, it's an honor to transition the call to serve off to Doug. I know that Altercare is in great hands."
