OLATHE, Kan., April 8, 2025 ~ Garmin, a global leader in fitness technology and the pioneer of the world's first running smartwatch, has recently announced the launch of their new event series - the Garmin Marathon Series. This unique road running race is set to flip convention on its head as it is wholly owned and produced by Garmin itself, from start to finish.
The series will consist of four race distances, an expo, and a finish line festival, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for participants. The debut locations for this series will be in Toledo, Ohio and Tucson, Arizona in the fall of 2025. The theme for this event is "Miles That Made You," as Garmin understands the journey of a runner and aims to celebrate it through this event.
Susan Lyman, Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing at Garmin, expressed her excitement about this new venture saying, "This is an opportunity to go above and beyond conventional sponsorships and create something truly special in our running communities. For decades, Garmin has been with runners through every step of their training, and now we are excited to be with them in an even more meaningful way on race day."

The selection process for the two debut locations was based on various factors such as existing race schedules, regional run communities, local highlights along the course route, and favorable weather conditions. More locations are planned for 2026.
The initial locations and dates for the Garmin Marathon Series are as follows:
- Toledo, Ohio - Sunday, September 21st 2025
- Tucson, Arizona - Saturday November 15th 2025
Each city will host a USATF-certified full marathon (which also serves as a Boston Marathon qualifier), half marathon, 10K and 5K races. Prior to race day, there will be a two-day expo showcasing Garmin products and technology that will be open to the public. Attendees can expect limited edition race gear from Garmin, meet and greets with Garmin-sponsored professional athletes, and other items from select sponsors. After the race, a finish line festival will be open to the public, giving runners a chance to celebrate with local food, live entertainment, and other activities.
