MANHATTAN, N.Y. - OhioPen -- Cavalier Ebanks Galleries is pleased to announce an extraordinary survey of Realist works, an exhibition that highlights the importance and diversity of Contemporary Realism. The exhibition will be on view at Cavalier Ebanks Galleries in Greenwich, CT from November 14th to December 31st.
The realistic depiction of subjects in art can be traced throughout history. Rendering objects and people in the form they naturally appear has always held a fascination and mysticism for both the artist and the viewer. Although believable representation has been found throughout the history of art, Realism carved its own place as the first modern movement in art.
Realism, beginning in 1840, is based on the concept of merging fine art and everyday life, an idea that would be key in the modern movements to come. By depicting everyday objects and situations, Realism throws a sharp light onto the reality of living in the modern age. Drawing from the traditions of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, these artists' work present modern subjects with the same masterful attention to detail as their predecessors.
