SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Dec. 13, 2024 ~ The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Office of Coast Survey has recently announced their selection of Woolpert for a significant contract. The five-year, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract is worth a shared ceiling of $450 million and will involve providing vessel-based hydrographic survey services.

Woolpert, a leading geospatial and infrastructure consulting firm, will be responsible for acquiring, processing, and delivering bathymetric data for assigned coastal regions in the United States. This data will be collected using multibeam and side-scan sonar technology deployed from Woolpert's fleet of survey vessels.

The primary purpose of this contract is to support the creation, updating, and maintenance of nautical charts. These charts are crucial for maintaining the safety and efficiency of maritime activities. Additionally, the data collected will also aid in habitat mapping and flood inundation modeling.

This is not the first time that Woolpert has worked with NOAA and the OCS. In fact, this is their third shared capacity contract supporting these organizations. According to Woolpert Project Manager Ryan Cross, it is an honor to continue their partnership in charting the nation's coasts and supporting NOAA's commitment to safe navigation, maritime commerce, and preserving the health of our oceans and waterways.

The contract is set to run through 2029, providing a long-term partnership between Woolpert and NOAA's Office of Coast Survey. With this collaboration, both organizations are dedicated to ensuring the smooth flow of shipped goods and services into and from the United States while also preserving our marine environments.
