ATHENS, Ohio, Jan. 16, 2025 ~ Stirling Ultracold, a leading developer and manufacturer of ultra-low temperature (ULT) freezers, has recently announced the launch of their latest product, the VAULT100 upright ULT freezer. This innovative freezer is the first in the industry to have a temperature range of -100°C to -20°C, with a temperature uniformity of +/-3°C at -80°C throughout the interior cabinet. It also boasts a more robust M6D free-piston Stirling engine design and a larger 10-inch touchscreen display with a graphical user interface (GUI) that includes Onboard Predictive Analytics freezer diagnostics.

Replacing their previous SU780XLE model, the Stirling VAULT100 offers the same storage capacity with matching external dimensions, making it the most compact and efficient option in its class. The wider temperature range allows for more storage options without compromising energy efficiency, making it ideal for laboratories that frequently access samples from the freezer. Even when operating at its lowest setpoint of -100°C, the interior cabinet remains below -70°C for up to 2 minutes when the door is opened.

According to Clayton Newman, CEO of Stirling Ultracold, "We're very excited to introduce a ULT product with major temperature performance improvements and innovations like predictive analytics." He further explains that the VAULT100 was specifically designed to ensure sample integrity by providing tighter control over the ultra-low storage environment. This makes it an ideal solution for adhering to Good Manufacturing Practice standards.

Stirling Ultracold first revolutionized the ultra-low freezer market in 2011 with their free-piston Stirling engine cooling technology, which is known for its high efficiency compared to traditional compressor-based systems. The VAULT100 is powered by their new M6D Stirling engine which builds on these advantages with a more robust design and new linear motor that allows for lower power consumption at the control board. This not only improves system reliability but also reduces energy consumption, with the VAULT100 using only 5.8 kWh/day (steady-state) and a Maximum Daily Energy Consumption (MDEC) of 0.22 kWh/day/cu-ft, validated by ENERGY STAR®-certification.

One of the most notable features of the VAULT100 is its Onboard Predictive Analytics section on the GUI, which is comparable to lights and notifications on a car's dashboard. This unique tool monitors and analyzes several Stirling M6D engine sensors to provide insight into the overall health of the freezer. It also offers guidance for preventative maintenance and proactive recommendations based on each unit's current operating conditions and stage of life.

With the release of their new VAULT100 upright ULT freezer, Stirling Ultracold continues to lead the way in providing innovative and efficient solutions for ultra-low temperature storage needs. This latest product not only offers a wider temperature range but also ensures sample integrity and energy efficiency, making it a valuable asset for laboratories following Good Manufacturing Practice standards.
