CINCINNATI - OhioPen -- The open-source cockpit UI brings Winamp-era customization to Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, and Aider

April 2026 — MOLTamp, a free macOS application, today announced the public launch of its skinnable terminal shell designed for AI coding tools. The app wraps Claude Code, OpenAI Codex CLI, Google Gemini CLI, Aider, and any command-line session in a fully customizable cockpit interface with community-built skins, widgets, and audio-reactive visualizers.

Unlike traditional terminal emulators that offer limited color scheme options, MOLTamp provides a complete UI framework where every visual element is controlled through CSS-based skins. The community marketplace at moltamp.com features themes ranging from retro CRT simulations to cyberpunk dashboards, each with full ANSI palette theming, animated effects, and real-time telemetry displays.

Every AI coding terminal ships as plain text in a plain box, said Peter Hough, creator of MOLTamp. Developers spend 8-12 hours a day staring at their terminal. It should look and feel the way they want it to.
