Most people are familiar with purchasing ordinary products and services, but are unaware of how to hire an entertainer like a magician. This brief article provides some basic simple guidelines which will result in successful booking of entertainment which satisfies your expectations.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - OhioPen -- Entertainers are artists just like painters or barbers or photographers are artists. Artists have various decrees of expertise, experience and abilities. A common error is to "lump" all artists into one category and then make a decision based on price. All painters are not alike and neither are all entertainers alike.
It is so very important to be aware of the kinds of questions to ask in order to ensure you get the entertainment you expect. Hiring a magician is really not complicated if you follow these steps:
1. After you have determined the kind of event you are going to have, and know where it is going to be, decide of the type of magician you will need. There are actually many kinds of magicians. Some specialize in performing for children while others specialize in adults. Some feature clean comedy and some are more "adult comedy". If you are planning an event for your company, you would not want a magician who specializes only in children entertainment.

2. Once you have narrowed your choices, check the magician's websites and activities. By all means, check out a video of the magician if one is available. Do a search for "magicians in your town." (fill in the name of your town)
3. Watching an experienced magician is very entertaining and creates happy memories for years to come. Ask for reverences from previous clients, or read reviews on-line.
4. The saying "you get what you pay for" applies to magicians too. If a magician's rate is inexpensive, there is probably a good reason for that and you might want to keep looking. After contacting several magicians and getting quotes, you will have a good idea regarding pricing. We suggest that you spend a little bit more and get someone who you will be proud to say that you booked.
5. Ask the magician what he or she offers and what makes up the performance. Also, find out what the length of the program will be. Most magicians have more than one show to offer as well as more than one style of magic. As an example, find out it there will be strolling magic as a warm-up prior to the the stage show.

Here is an example of a written review we just received on Google:
"Mister Illusion (Charlie Fass) and his wife/assistant, Barb, did an amazing job entertaining at our daughter's 7th birthday party. All of the guests got to act as assistants and participate in the show, and the grand finale levitation was awesome. The is also super fun for adults, lots of good humor and jokes to entertain everybody. He gave a magic kit to the birthday girl, and she hasn't stopped practicing tricks since -- amazing experience. Thank you!"
