~ Columbus, OH - In response to the recent cyber attack on the city's IT infrastructure, the City of Columbus has taken action to protect its residents. Today, Mayor Andrew J. Ginther announced that the city will be offering free Experian credit monitoring to all residents and individuals impacted by the attack.
Starting immediately, both Columbus residents and non-residents whose personal information was shared with the city or municipal court will be eligible for two years of free Experian monitoring. This service includes $1 million of protection against fraud and identity theft.
To enroll in this program, individuals can visit www.columbus.gov/cyber or call 1-833-918-5161 with the code B129833 by November 29th. The service will begin upon enrollment.
Expressing his concern and anger over the cyber attack, Mayor Ginther stated, "My priority is to do everything we can to protect the residents of our city. That is why we are extending two years of free Experian credit monitoring to all of our residents to help protect them from potential fraud or identity theft." He urged all Columbus residents and those who believe they may have been impacted to take advantage of this added protection by signing up at www.columbus.gov/cyber.
