Antigua and Barbuda host United Nations Conference at American University of Antigua's Campus

NEW YORK - OhioPen -- In a landmark event that underscores its commitment to global sustainability and education, Antigua and Barbuda is currently hosting the United Nation's Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) at American University of Antigua's campus inside their 1,200-seat, state-of-the-art convention center. This historic conference runs from May 27 to 30, 2024, under the theme "Charting the Course Towards Resilient Prosperity."

The "Flag Raising Ceremony of the Fourth International Conference on Small Islands Developing States" signaled the official campus handover. Mr. Li Junhua - Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs stated that "the United Nations flag is a symbol of peace, unity, and hope for a brighter future."

"When we raise the flag here in Saint John's, we are signaling that the world stands in solidarity with small island developing States from across the globe." Junhua continued, "Member States, the UN system, civil society, businesses, people of younger and older generations, from all regions, are here together because we are committed to a sustainable future for SIDS."
