Gathered Foods Sells Ohio Plant to Ahimsa Companies

VANCOUVER, BC, July 9, 2024 ~ In a recent announcement, Gathered Foods, a leading pioneer in plant-based proteins, has sold its dedicated plant-based production facility, Trellis, to the newly formed holding company for plant-based brands, Ahimsa Companies. This sale marks a significant move for both companies and the plant-based industry as a whole.

The facility, located in Heath, Ohio, was commissioned in 2020 and is exclusively focused on producing top-quality plant-based foods. It has been awarded the BRC 'AA' designation, the highest possible rating for food and product safety by the British Retail Consortium. Additionally, it holds non-GMO Project verification and vegan, halal and kosher certifications, along with multiple allergen-control programs.

Ahimsa Companies, one of Gathered's largest stakeholders, will continue to operate the manufacturing plant as a plant-based production hub. This acquisition is part of Ahimsa's strategy to consolidate and vertically integrate within the plant-based industry. Group CEO Matt Tullman leads Ahimsa Companies and is excited about the potential of this strategically located facility.
