An upcoming information session introduces plans to expand accredited fashion education and workforce development opportunities in Dayton.
DAYTON, Ohio - OhioPen -- Edessa School of Fashion™ and (DE-FI) Global INC™ Partner in Dayton
Dayton, Ohio — January 16, 2026 — Edessa School of Fashion™, in collaboration with (DE-FI) Global INC™, has announced a rescheduled information session introducing plans to expand accredited fashion education in Dayton. The session, originally scheduled for January 24, 2026, will now take place on Friday, March 27, 2026, to accommodate (DE-FI)'s participation in a previously scheduled partner convening with the RustBelt Fibershed in Cleveland. The adjustment reflects the organization's continued commitment to regional collaboration and ecosystem building.
The information session will serve as an early-stage introduction to the proposed Edessa School of Fashion Dayton initiative and will provide an opportunity for community members, educators, creatives, workforce partners, civic leaders, and industry stakeholders to learn more and share input as planning continues.

"This session is about building the right foundation," said Caressa L. Brown, Founder and Director of (DE-FI) Global INC™. "We want to ensure the appropriate space, time, and focus for meaningful dialogue around fashion education, workforce development, and the long-term opportunity this initiative represents for Dayton and the region."
Edessa School of Fashion™, based in Milwaukee, is known for hands-on, student-centered fashion education aligned with real-world industry needs. Its collaboration with (DE-FI) Global INC™ reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to fashion education while strengthening regional creative economies and workforce pipelines.
For more than a decade, (DE-FI) Global INC™ has supported aspiring and emerging designers, models, sewists, and creative professionals through incubators, fashion weeks, and industry development programs across Dayton and Cincinnati. Alumni from the (DE-FI) ecosystem have gone on to work in national and global fashion, media, and design markets, often leaving the region due to limited local education and career infrastructure. The proposed Edessa School of Fashion Dayton initiative aims to help reverse that trend by creating accredited, local pathways that retain talent and attract industry opportunity to Southwest Ohio.
