Akron, Ohio, November 22, 2021 — All municipal offices will be closed on Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
There will be no curb service on Thursday, November 25. There will be a one-day delay of trash and recycling collection for the remainder of the week, with curb service resuming on Friday, November 26 and continuing through Saturday, November 27. "Thanksgiving provides us with the perfect time to pause and give thanks for all of the blessings we experience daily. As we safely gather with family and friends in the spirit of this holiday, may we be grateful for all that we have and share that gratitude with those we hold dear. I'm wishing all of Akron a very happy and safe holiday," said Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan.
After the holiday, residents are encouraged to shop local on Saturday, Nov. 27 for Small Business Saturday. This year, with supply chain shortages and expected delivery delays, there's no better time than ever to spend your money at locally owned businesses for holiday gifts. From our Great Streets Districts to Downtown to all of our local restaurants and breweries, there are plenty of options to get a great gift or gift card at a small business near you.
